About Us
Turkey Maarif Foundation (TMF) was founded in June 2016 based on decisions and laws adopted in the Turkish Parliament. TMF is the only institution authorized to represent Turkey in the field of education beyond the borders of Turkey. Currently, Maarif exists in 40 countries around the world with 109 educational institutions.
In Iraq, Maarif Schools of Baghdad (MSB) opened in September 2019 with two campuses and a capacity of 1500 students providing education from kindergarten to secondary school.
Our main aim is to make a difference in education in Iraq by providing international standards to improve the quality of educational outcomes.

Our Premises
MSB premises is made to facilitate education and create a stimulating learning environment that boosts learners’ engagement.
MSB Zayoona Campus spans an area of 75oo m2 with a building of 3500 m^2 giving a space of 4000 m^2 for green gardens and outdoor playgrounds.
MSB Mansour Campus spans an area of 15ooo m^2 with a building of 3500 m^2 giving a space of 11500 m^2 for a green garden and outdoor playgrounds.

Kindergarten
Kindergarten Program supports the physical, personal, social, and emotional development of the child through various activities. We aim to improve children in many areas including communication and language, literacy, mathematical and observational skills. Children are engaged in activities that develop their fine and gross motor skills. English is the language of instruction in our school besides teaching Arabic and Turkish as a foreign language. We implement a phonics program in the 5-year age group to prepare them for primary school. Students learn the alphabet and blend letters at their own pace. We provide our students with the opportunity to play, explore, create and think critically through a stimulating environment. Education in our schools is carried out by International teachers assisted by Iraqi teachers.
Primary School
Primary school is a bilingual school that provides education in English and Arabic. English subjects are taught by international teachers and include mathematics and science in addition to a thorough curriculum that covers the four skills in the English language. With such a stimulating environment, students are encouraged to communicate using English in and outside the classroom. Phonics Program: We implement a phonics program in the first grade of primary. Students learn the alphabet, sight words, and blending letters to create meaningful words. By the end of grade 1, our students are able to read short texts about familiar topics. As MSB, we aim to raise the learner who can compete in the 21st century by improving their critical thinking, problem-solving, cooperation, collaboration, creativity, and life-long learning skills. Our program supports the physical, personal, social, and emotional development of the student through a variety of programs and cross-curricular activities implemented in and outside the classroom. Primary 6th classes (Baccalaureate) get additional attention through organizing special educational programs to help them get ready for the final ministry exam. Education in our school is carried out by International and Iraqi teachers.
Secondary School
The secondary School Program supports the personal, social, and emotional development of the students besides the academic development through a variety of cross-curricular activities. MSB is a bilingual school in which English is the language of instruction in Maths and sciences including physics, chemistry, and biology in addition to a thorough curriculum that covers the four skills in the English language.
At Maarif Schools of Baghdad, we aim to raise individuals who are self-reliant, confident, responsible for their learning, and able to adapt to the changeable world around them. 3D technology is used in our classes in secondary school to enhance the teaching of traditional subjects and support students to better understand phenomena in biology, physics, chemistry, mathematics, or history. Baccalaureate Classes get additional attention through organizing special educational programs to help them get ready for the final ministry exam. Education in our schools is carried out by qualified International and Iraqi teachers.
Learning at Maarif
Language Education
We aim to qualify our students to use both English and Turkish languages to communicate confidently beside their mother tongue; Arabic.
English Language
English is the language of instructions in MSB in the core subjects; English, maths, and science besides IT. Our international teachers communicate in English with students and school staff providing a stimulating atmosphere for students to use the language naturally. With the many activities and projects, students are motivated to practice speaking English in an entertaining and fun environment.
Cambridge Exams
Our international teachers prepare students to take Cambridge language exams YLE, KET, and PET in primary and secondary levels. They are trained on teaching the four skills along with the exam techniques. Our school is an exam center for Cambridge exams.
Turkish Language
With the Turkish language program specially designed for Maarif Schools, our students excel in learning the language and have the confidence to use it at their level. Our teachers use a variety of teaching techniques including digital support to boost understanding.
At Maarif Baghdad Schools, students are motivated to learn foreign languages they will use throughout their lives in a qualified educational environment. It is ensured that our students educate as citizens of the world who think originally by using English and Turkish with confidence.
Science
Our science program is based on inquiry and observation. Students are encouraged to improve their observation skills through a variety of hands-on activities implemented in group work. They are engaged in projects that reflect their understanding and boost their self-confidence.
STEM Program – Robotic and Coding
STEM program integrates science, technology, engineering concepts, and Mathematical skills. It provides students with analytical thinking skills, to see the relationships between events, and improves their problem-solving ability through working collaboratively on robotic and coding projects with their peers as part of this program.
Art & Music
MSB’s art program allows children to express their feelings and ideas and disclose their inner thoughts. It enhances their creativity and imagination. Attending art & music classes can help them realize their skills and reveal their talents. We encourage our students by offering them opportunities to participate in different school events and to show their knack.
Physical Education
In MSB, we utilize our unique sports areas to run sports activities that support not only the physical but also the social and emotional development of students through engaging them in team sports where they learn how to cooperate to reach a common goal.
PE is an integral part of the MSB curriculum from kindergarten level to high school.
Library
In MSB, we believe in the importance of reading. The purpose of our library is to enrich classroom instructions help students gain new knowledge and skills and to feed their curiosity for learning. It is the central point for all students to enjoy reading, access to information, and do research. The variety of books and resources available in our library provides a stimulating atmosphere for students to read.
